Mexico City will be the first stop on U2’s The Greatest Show on Earth World Tour, opening on February 23, 2027. Beck joins the band for six announced stadium shows in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. The news arrives with a single of the same name, ahead of the November 13 release of Carnaval De Luz.

The band are going back to stadiums after a long interval. Their last date in that setting was in Mumbai on December 15, 2019, when The Joshua Tree Tour ended. This time, the promised set draws on the full U2 catalogue. Having a new album to tour does not mean that the show has been announced as an album played from start to finish.

Three cities, two nights apiece

  • Mexico City: February 23 and 26, Estadio GNP Seguros.
  • São Paulo: March 10 and 12, Estádio MorumBIS.
  • Buenos Aires: March 23 and 25, Estadio River Plate.

The Friday options are February 26 in Mexico City and March 12 in São Paulo. Buenos Aires gets a Tuesday and a Thursday, with no weekend date in this announcement. That is worth checking before choosing flights or time off work. U2 say these will be the only three Latin American cities on the 2027 route, so waiting for a nearer stop elsewhere in the region is a gamble.

Subscriber presales begin on October 19 at 10am local time for the Feedback group, followed by the Hype group on October 20. Both close on October 21 at 10pm local time. General sales open at 10am local time on October 22 for São Paulo and Buenos Aires, then October 23 for Mexico City. A separate Mexico City artist presale is scheduled for October 22; its registration deadline is October 18 at 11:59pm ET. Those time zones matter: an ET registration cutoff and a venue’s local sale time are separate instructions.

Europe and North America will get their announcements in the coming weeks. An Irish return is in the works, too. At the moment, there are no published venues or dates for those parts of the tour. Subscribers may have access to a later presale, but there is still no concert to put in the diary.

Carnaval De Luz will have been out for 102 days when the first concert begins. That is over three months to get to know the album before seeing how it fits beside the older songs. Brian Eno co-wrote the new single and Anton Corbijn directed its video. Those are recording and film credits; they do not expand the live bill. Beck is the support act attached to the six published dates. Further names, like further regions, will need their own announcement.
