Privacy & Your Data

Last updated:

You can read SongLyrics.band without registering as a listener. There is no reader account to create before opening a band's songs or a blog story. Some information still reaches the site when a page is requested, and anything you send in a message or lyrics correction needs to be handled. Here is how that works.

Browsing and searching

A web request brings connection details, including an IP address, to the server. Operational logs can record the page requested, the time, browser details and a referring address. Searching puts your query in the page address, so a server log may contain it too. These records help diagnose failed requests and protect the service.

For searches, contributions and editor sign-ins, the site uses an address-derived, protected identifier to count repeated attempts. This is a safeguard against excessive requests, rather than a profile shown to other readers.

If you send us something

The contribution form asks for the song, performer and lyrics you want reviewed. A name and email can be supplied as well. Contributions wait for editorial review; submitting a correction does not put it straight onto a public page. For a contact enquiry, we receive your name, email, subject and message, plus the page address if you supply one. Messages emailed directly also include a reply address and the content you send. Please send only details relevant to the issue.

Settings on your device

The light or dark setting stays in local storage in your browser until you change it or clear the site's saved data. A session cookie protects the contact and contribution forms. Editors use their own session cookie, with an optional remembered login lasting up to 30 days. You do not need an editor login to browse lyrics.

SongLyrics.band uses Google AdSense for advertising. When an ad loads, Google and its partners can receive connection details and may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. See Google's explanation of information from partner sites for further details. Outside image hosts receive the connection information needed to send pictures to your browser. Playing an embedded video contacts its provider, which handles that interaction under its own rules.

Your questions and choices

We use personal information to operate the website, check submissions, respond to messages and prevent misuse. We do not sell visitor profiles. Our hosting and email providers handle information needed to deliver those services. Enquiries and submissions are kept for review and necessary follow-up; records relating to security, legal obligations or disputes may need longer retention.

To ask about your information, email the site operator at [email protected] or visit Contact. You may request access, a correction or deletion. Rights to object, restrict processing or complain to a supervisory authority depend on applicable law. We may need to verify a request before releasing or changing records. If our practices change, we will revise this page to describe them.
