Emergency Hospital Treatment for Jonny Greenwood
The Smile, a Radiohead side project, has called off its forthcoming European tour because of Jonny Greenwood, guitarist, who is seriously ill. The band says Greenwood fell extremely sick after being infected by some bug that necessitated and underwent critical hospital management inclusive of time spent within ICU. At least we can all take heart at the fact that he is lucky enough to recover from his rotten state before long and return to us in time.
Impact on European Tour Plans
The Smile, consisting of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and drummer Tom Skinner, were set to kick off the second leg of their European summer tour on August 7. The tour was in support of their new album, "Wall of Eyes," and included multiple festival appearances. However, on the advice of the medical team overseeing Greenwood's recovery, the band has decided to cancel all engagements until he has fully recovered.
Refunds and Fans' Reactions
As a consequence of this medical emergency, the entire month-long European tour has been canceled. The band has directed fans to contact their ticket providers for refunds to the festival shows. In their statement, The Smile expressed their hopes for Jonny's swift recovery.
Thom Yorke's Upcoming Solo Tour
With The Smile's tour schedule cleared, Thom Yorke will shift his focus to other projects. Today, Yorke's score for the Italian film "Confidenza" was released on vinyl and CD. He will not return to the stage until October, when he begins a rare solo tour that spans his entire catalog. This month-long tour will take him through Australasia, concluding on November 26 in Kyoto, Japan.
