Now, I am the prowlin' nighthawk

I prowl ev'ryday an night

Now, I am the prowlin' nighthawk

I prowl ev'ryday and night

An the reason I prowl so long

My baby don't treat me right

I have prowled so long

'Till it made my knee bones so'

I have prowled so long

'Till it have made my knee bones so'

But when I find the little girl that I love

You won't see me prowl no mo'

Someday

I ain't gon' be no prowlin' man

I said, someday

I won't be no prowlin' man

I said I ain't gon' be mischievious

Ain't gonna be too hard to understand

'Play it, play it, boy'

(harmonica & guitar)

'You know you've been trav'lin' like I have'

'Play that thing, boy'

Now, I've been ramblin' an prowlin'

Ever since I was twelve years old

I have been ramblin' an prowlin'

Ever since I was twelve years old

An I wouldn't stop ramblin'

For my weight in gold

But someday

I ain't gon' prowl no mo'

Yes, someday

I ain't gon' prowl no mo'

But you know right now

I haven't got no place to go
