A Shocking Setback Just Before Opening Day
In a tragic event, the mainstage of Tomorrowland 2025—the heart of Belgium’s renowned dance music festival—was burned to the ground just days before it was supposed to open. Footage released by Belgian broadcaster VRT NWS showed a fire ripping through the centerpiece of the festival, and more video showed big plumes of smoke as the stage came crashing down. Fortunately, no festival goers were on site while this happened, and concerts had not yet begun. Staff were present, but no injuries have been reported, according to an official statement from Tomorrowland representatives. Emergency services arrived on the scene right away, according to VRT NWS. Police spokesperson Joris Van Camp said authorities were given full operational space to secure the scene and assess the damage. He advised those nearby to close windows and not breathe in. But despite the upheaval, the organizers are moving forward with the festival's realization. The second weekend of the festival is scheduled from July 25 to July 27, and all questions now focus on what quick action or adaptation the team can take.
