Paris Hilton Reflects on Devastating Loss of Her Home in LA Wildfires

Paris Hilton has spoken about the tragic loss of her home due to the Los Angeles wildfires. The fire broke out on January 7 and spread rapidly into five simultaneous fires in different areas. These tragic flames have made more than 180,000 people flee their homes, and according to NBC News, have resulted in 10 confirmed fatalities so far.

On Sunday, Hilton said she was still trying to process the emotional roller coaster she felt watching her Malibu home burn on live television. "Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burned to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to see. This house is where we made so many memories."

Finding Strength Amid the Ruin

Despite the overwhelming loss, Hilton expressed gratitude for the safety of her loved ones and pets. “While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe. My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires,” she shared.

Upon returning to the site of her destroyed home, Hilton took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message along with footage of the aftermath. “I’m standing here in what used to be our home, and the heartbreak is truly indescribable,” she wrote.

Memories Reduced to Ashes

It's not just a house. That was the home where all the magic was supposed to happen. Where dreams came and laughed, my most beautiful family memories," said a pensive Hilton. "My little baby [son Phoenix]'s first artwork covered the entire hallway his amazing artwork is burned to ashes and gone forever."

Grateful for Safety and Community Support

Amid the devastation, Hilton is grateful for what matters most. "And yet, in this pain, I know I'm incredibly lucky. My loved ones, my babies, and my pets are safe. That's the most important thing, and I'm holding onto that gratitude with everything I have," she said.

She was also highly grateful to fearless firefighters, first responders, and volunteers working at the fires. "Beyond grateful to all of the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers risking their lives to fight these fires," added Hilton.

Message of Hope and Resilience

She concluded her post by thanking people who have given her love and support during difficult times. "To everyone that has sent love, prayers, and kindness—you have reminded me that even in the ashes, there is still beauty in this world. Thank you from the depths of my soul," she said.

She also reached out to those around her affected by the wildfires: "To anyone who's still going through this, I just wanted to say. You are not alone. We are in it together. We will rebuild and we will heal. And we will be stronger than before."

Other Stars the Fires Hit

Hilton isn't the only one to suffer loss, however. Other prominent individuals also reported partial or complete damage to their houses in the wildfires. Included among them were:

  1. Comedian Billy Crystal
  2. Actor Cary Elwes
  3. Oscar-winning James Woods
  4. Actor Milo Ventimiglia from Heroes and This Is Us

Milo Ventimiglia also broke down when being interviewed live for the first time on-air since his home got destroyed.

Fundraisers and Support for Victims

In a related move, a GoFundMe was started for Zachary Cole Smith, the singer of the band DIIV, whose house was destroyed by the fires. According to an appeal on that website, their friend Lindsey Hartman reported that Smith and his family all survived, "but his entire home is gone."

Response from the Industry

The wildfires have also elicited very candid responses from musicians and actors. Celebrities like Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande have expressed their sadness and offered their support to those affected by the tragedy. As the community rallies together to rebuild, stories like Hilton's remind one of the resilience and compassion that arise in adversity.
