Oasis Returns to the Stage After 16 Years with Explosive Cardiff Show

After more than 10 years apart, Oasis took to the stage for the first time in 16 years as they kicked off their long-awaited ‘Live 25’ tour in Cardiff, and as expected, it was electric and proved they are legendary. As OC readers will appreciate, there had been months of speculation as to what would be their opener, so it came as no surprise to see more than 70,000 fans go insane when the band—facing backward on the stage—launched into “Hello” from 1995’s ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ at precisely 8:15 PM. Liam's familiar voice—and the opening line of “Hello, hello / Said it’s good to be back, it’s good to be back”—filled the air and sent emotions racing through the crowd. Oasis then followed this with an astonishing “Acquiesce” —the nostalgic B-side that returned fans to the golden years of the band—however, it was not just about the music, Liam and Noel's chemistry throughout the show supported by Andy Bell, Gem Archer, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and new drummer Joey Waronker showed that the reunion is more than just a nostalgic experience.

Emotional Tributes and Soaring Expectations Lead Up to the Big Night

The concert not only brought back the Oasis legacy but also some emotional tributes. Before Oasis performed, fans saw opening acts Cast and Richard Ashcroft. Cast dedicated the song "Walkaway" to late Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, which added some emotional context to the occasion. Ashcroft had the entire stadium singing along to 'The Drugs Don't Work’, ‘Lucky Man’, and ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ when everyone was reminded of the time of Britpop’s Titans. Before the concert, the hype had reached a boiling point. Drone footage of the Oasis logo flying in over Cardiff’s Principality Stadium created a buzz on social media, and the leaked rehearsal audio contained glimpses of what was to come. Noel Gallagher had even teased fans about rehearsals, claiming, “We sounded huge" during rehearsals and proclaiming, “There’s no going back now." However, the buzz had not solely revolved around the music, but about experiencing a moment again that the fans feared would never repeat.

Massive Global Tour Set to Follow Historic Reunion Launch

Following this unforgettable kickoff, Oasis will perform a second night in Cardiff before heading north for a five-show run at Manchester’s Heaton Park. And yet, the scale of their comeback doesn’t end there. The tour includes an impressive seven-night residency at London’s Wembley Stadium, followed by international stops in Edinburgh, Dublin, and then across continents, touching down in North America, South America, South Korea, Japan, and Australia. This global tour marks a historic celebration of their 25-year musical journey. On the flip side, the band’s reunion extends beyond the concert stage. Just weeks earlier, Liam and Noel surprised fans by appearing together in a nostalgic Adidas Originals campaign. Above all, they’ve even partnered with Bohemian FC for a commemorative football jersey, merging their cultural roots with their musical return. This isn’t just a tour—it’s a full-circle moment that solidifies Oasis’s legacy for a new era.
